BUILDING THE TEAM

The SFMTA has made several new division director appointments over the past few months. I expect to finalize that group soon and appreciate your efforts to welcome them and facilitate their transitions.

Some of the divisions have been newly created or restructured in order to maximize our resources, improve the effectiveness and efficiency of executive leadership, enhance our team-oriented approach to customer service, and strengthen management accountability.

The new division appointments are:

  • Bond Yee Director of Parking and Traffic (Permanent)
  • Diana Buchbinder Director of Human Resources (Permanent)
  • Kenneth McDonald Director of Muni Operations and COO
  • Sonali Bose Director of Finance and CFO
  • Diana Hammons Director of External Affairs (Permanent)
  • Adrian Moy Deputy Director of Safety and Training
  • Deputy Chief Antonio Parra Deputy Director of Enforcement and Security
  • Adrian and Tony report to Stuart Sunshine, Deputy Executive Director.

We are fortunate that the staff members who so ably shepherded these divisions as Acting Directors will continue to contribute their talent and knowledge to the SFMTA. Deb Denison, who continues to serve as Acting Director of Technology Planning & Business Analysis, Debra Ward, Wilson Johnson, Mike Kirchanski, Doris Lanier, and Robert Hertan all deserve our thanks.

In addition to this strong new leadership team, I am also proud to announce that the SFMTA has been ranked second in the City for contributions to the Combined Charities Campaign, with a grand total of $161,536. The citywide total was $1,090,000.

I especially want to thank our hard working Campaign captains and their teams: Wallace Tang, Dee Huey, Conzy Jones, Rachelle Ross, Jeff Gary, Sheila Evans-Peguese, Michelle Blaylock, Sululagi Palega, Daisy Avalos, Leti Luna, Linda Gill, Ted Unaegbu, Robert Lim, Munty Tayleao, Debra Woodley, Delti Estrella, Debra Ross, Pauline Gonzalez, Patricia Fieldsted, Eleanor “Nell” Childs, Nelson Pino, Willie Fong, Adelaida Julian, Rafael Cabrera, James Waterfield, Claire Zvanski, Barbara George, Yvette Torres, Susie Nakhiengchanh, Sherri Anderson, and LeRay Mecham.

Not only did the SFMTA increase contributions by 300%, we also had the most Leadership Givers (contributions over $500) in the City, at 113. In addition to raising our total amount, we also increased individual donations and participation by 200%. Congratulations!

I hope you are having a great holiday season. I look forward to our work together in the New Year.
