This page concerns how you can seek a job with San Francisco Municipal Transportation Agency (SFMTA) contractors on SFMTA projects. If you would like to work for the SFMTA itself, please see the other pages in this section.

About the SFMTA Employment Program

Trainees are hired for SFMTA projects through the First Source Jobs Program. Trainee positions will be hired for minimum a twelve month period for full-time employment and twenty-four month period for part-time. We expect that this experience will train and prepare the First Source Hire candidates for a career path within that industry or any future employment opportunities.

All applicants seeking employment on SFMTA projects should first register at one of the community based organizations that are affiliated with any of the One Stop Career Link Centers hosted by the Office of Economic and Workforce Development (OEWD).  The OEWD facilitates recruitment and referral of applicants for construction and professional service employment opportunities on SFMTA projects. Please review the list of One Stop Centers below for information about locations near you.

Applicants interested in construction-related employment opportunities for the Central Subway Project will be directed to CityBuild.  Applicants interested in professional services positions will be directed to the First Source Hiring Program.

Please do not contact SFMTA Recruiting for jobs with contractors. Contact the resources below. This program is coordinated at the SFMTA by the SFMTA Contract Compliance Office (CCO).
