Release date: Federal Funding for SFMTA Projects

*** Press Release ***

The FY2008 Omnibus Appropriations bill signed by President Bush on Wednesday, December 26, 2007 includes funding for federal transportation programs.  Included in the measure is funding for the following San Francisco priority transportation projects:

  • $12 million for the Central Subway project, phase 2 of the Third St. light rail project;
  • $1 million for Muni bus improvements;
  • $500K for advancing implementation of SFgo on Market Street.

“These funds are critical to keeping the SFMTA’s priority projects, such as the Central Subway, on track” said Nathaniel P. Ford, Sr., SFMTA Executive Director/CEO.

He added that the inclusion of funding for these critical projects is due to the staunch support of House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, Senator Dianne Feinstein, Senator Boxer and Mayor Gavin Newsom.
