Release date: 10/5/09 *** Press Release ***Tom Nolan, Chairman of the San Francisco Municipal Transportation Agency (SFMTA) Board of Directors, today issued the following statement congratulating Nathaniel P. Ford Sr. on the announcement of his election as Secretary-Treasurer of the American Public Transportation Association (APTA). “Nathaniel Ford’s election to this important leadership post in the transit industry strengthens San Francisco’s voice in crucial national discussions about the future of public transportation in this country, particularly on the challenge of how we will pay for it. He also brings to the dialogue his experience as head of a multi-modal agency that oversees the entire breadth of sustainable transportation choices such as bicycling, pedestrian travel and taxis. Finally, his involvement at the highest levels of APTA will continue to help the SFMTA both learn from and inform the best practices of our industry.” APTA is an international association of transit systems, other government agencies and firms involved in the public transportation industry.
