San Francisco's Bicycle Program strives to promote safe and secure bicycle parking to complement the growing bicycle network. There are several categories of bicycle parking information available:

(.pdf file) Garages with Bicycle Parking, Bicycle Lockers and San Francisco Bicycle Stations Bicycle Racks within the Public Right-of-Way (ROW) The Bicycle Program is currently installing bicycle racks throughout the City. Many of these locations have been suggested by cyclists. We are continually accepting requests. However, guidelines must be met before a location is considered for bicycle rack installation. Please familiarize yourself with the guidelines before making a request. There are also several ordinances pertaining to bicycle racks within the public right-of-way. Bicycle Rack Requests Permit for bicycle racks within the public right-of-way Bicycle Parking in Garages City-owned and privately-owned garages that rent automobile space to the public are subject to the bicycle parking requirements of the San Francisco Planning Code. Article 1.5 Section 155.2 should be referenced. The Planning Department is responsible for enforcement of Section 155.2. Certain new commercial and renovated buildings, as well as City-owned buildings are subject to othersections of the Planning Code that require bicycle parking and may also require installation of clothes lockers and showers.
