Projects and planningThe Bicycle Program has successfully implemented many projects, including striping over 40 miles of bicycle lanes, creating 23 miles of bicycle paths, posting 82 miles of signed bicycle routes, and painting 1250 shared lane markings, or “sharrows.” Many new projects are underway at once; details on upcoming projects are linked from our Upcoming Projects Information page. In addition, the Bicycle Program has completed many reports, including the Shared Lane Marking proposal, the Fell-Masonic intersection survey, and the Embarcadero “Floating Bike Lane” study, which are available on the Bicycle-Related Reports, Studies and Planning Efforts page. The City and County of San Francisco’s General Plan, the MTC Regional Bicycle Plan, and the SFMTA Bike Plan are also available to download.
