Safety

The Bicycle Program takes an active role in educating cyclists how to ride safely on City streets by offering urban bicycle education classes at no charge through a collaboration with the San Francisco Bicycle Coalition.

A 50-page guide, created by the Bicycle Program to respond to specific conditions in San Francisco, addresses safe cycling practices in detail and is available at no charge.

A one page helmet fitting guide is also available in both English and Spanish.

The Coexist campaign within the Bicycle Program educates motorists and cyclists about rules and responsibilities when sharing the road by limiting conflicts and reducing crashes and injuries.
