Reading and approval of agenda: The agenda was approved. Stuart Sunshine: Discussion of MAAC’s Priorities Stuart Sunshine was unable to attend the meeting. Approval of the minutes of September 2005: The minutes were approved. Report from the Chair: Les Clark (MAAC Chair) gave thanks to MAAC committee members for their work over the past year and made motion to cancel the December meeting. The motion carried – Next MAAC meeting will be on January 19th, 2006. Public Comment: No public comments. ADA Complaints: The ADA complaints for the month of October 2005 were not available. Discussion of MAAC Outreach: MUNI staff discussed ways to promote MAAC meetings and increase MAAC membership. Discussion of a resolution regarding no smoking in or near a bus shelter: MUNI staff presented City of Berkeley legislation that prohibits smoking in or near a bus shelter. Based on this legislation, Muni Staff will work with the Mayor’s Office on Disability to move the idea to the San Francisco Board of Supervisors. Letter to Bill Lieberman: A draft of a letter to Bill Lieberman about the cost effectiveness study by SFMTA / Office of Controller. A motion was made to send letter and was approved. Member’s questions and comments: Carol Mauro offered complaints about MUNI bus life failure and inappropriate MUNI cable car operator behavior. Jeanne Lynch expressed concern about faulty MUNI bus lift equipment. Jeanne Lynch shared with the committee her pictures of MUNI bus incidents, infractions of rules by MUNI riders and illegal transfer selling activities. Ed Evans discussed holiday operation and route schedules. Les Clark discussed bus headway and occurrences of “bus bunching.” Jeanne Lynch discussed a recent pedestrian safety push in the Richmond district, and automobile driver behavior on Geary Blvd. Announcements: MUNI staff announced that the San Francisco County Transportation Authority’s Pedestrian Master Plan Steering Committee was accepting membership applications. MUNI staff announced an upcoming light rail workshop on Saturday 12/10/05 Next Agenda: 1) Bob Planthold – Examine issue of why fare increases have not reduced the impact of service cutbacks. Explore use DPT and other city revenues to reestablish cut services. 2) Ed Evans – Transportation tax to support free MUNI services 3) Arden Wheeler – Hallidie plaza elevator hours of operation 4) Ed Evans – Update on flag stops, Update on Bio-diesel vans, Signage for people regarding bus lift uses 5) Bruce Morgan – Folding Ramps Adjournment: At 2:35PM, the meeting adjourned to the next regularly scheduled meeting of Thursday, January 19, 2006, at 1:00PM. |
