About the SFMTA Board of Directors

The San Francisco Municipal Transportation Agency (SFMTA) Board of Directors governs the SFMTA, including the San Francisco Municipal Railway (Muni) and the Department of Parking and Traffic (DPT). The SFMTA Board of Directors also serves as members of the San Francisco Parking Authority.

The SFMTA Board of Directors holds regular meetings on the first and third Tuesday of every month at 1 p.m. unless otherwise noted.  They meet in City Hall, Room 400.

About the Policy and Governance Committee

The primary functions of the Policy and Governance Committee of the SFMTA Board of Directors are:

  • Assist the Board in the task of overall governance, including considering and recommending policies and procedures concerning the Board’s operations and standards.
  • Assist the SFMTA as it assumes new responsibilities including implementation of Prop A, the Transit Effectiveness Project (TEP), the Blue Ribbon Panel recommendations and the potential addition of the Taxi Commission responsibilities and coordinate the impacts of the various changes at an appropriate level.
  • Monitor the implementation of the strategic plan.
  • Serve as a sounding panel for the Executive Director and Senior staff as appropriate.

The Policy and Governance Committee of the San Francisco Municipal Transportation Agency Board of Directors meets on the third Friday of every month at 9 a.m. at One South Van Ness Ave. on the seventh floor, unless otherwise noted.

Meeting Broadcasts

Regular SFMTA Board meetings and selected other meetings are broadcast on cable via SFGTV and streamed on the Internet. Broadband service is recommended for access. The SFMTA is generally broadcast on SFGTV2, cable channel 78.

SFGTV archives include a recording of each meeting, an agenda with links to the specific portion of the meeting, a file containing all closed captions for the deaf from the meeting and an MP3 recording of the meeting:

These are lists of resolutions passed by the SFMTA Board during a particular year.  The lists are in accessible PDF format. PDF help is available.

How to find information about the Board's actions

If you know the date on which the item was considered, please go to the Web page for that meeting and review the agenda. The files for all calendar items appear after the meeting notice but before the agenda text. The minutes of the meeting will list the action taken by the Board with respect to every item on the agenda. Minutes are posted within 48 hours of approval (at the next Board meeting).
