As of Monday, March 24, 2008 K/T, L and M Muni Metro subway resumes full weeknight service to 1 a.m.

  • KT/L/M shuttle bus substitution will be discontinued between Van Ness and West Portal Stations—replaced by restored weeknight rail service until 1am.
  • West Portal and Forest Hill Stations—which currently close at 9:00 p.m. weeknights—will resume regular hours—open until 1:00 a.m. (seven days a week.)
  • Regular Owl bus service will operate on a normal schedule

The San Francisco Municipal Transportation Agency (SFMTA) would like to thank our customers and the community for your patience over the last two years while the Metro Improvement Projects were completed.  These projects achieved significant improvements to your subway:

  • The Metro Subway Overhead Improvement Project, begun in January 2006, replaced the overhead wires that provide power to the Metro cars in the subway. This project was completed in January 2008, on time and under budget.
  • The Twin Peaks Tunnel Improvement and West Portal Station Improvement projects, will offer KT/L/M customers faster, smoother and more reliable service.

 

Note: Muni vehicles stop only at existing marked Muni stops. Reroutes over streets not normally served by Muni will operate non-stop over those streets. Exceptions to this policy, if any, would be noted above as "temporary stop."

Note: All times shown on this page are for expected effects on Muni service, not for the event or activity itself. Events or activities may start or end earlier or later than the times shown. All times are subject to change based on actual conditions. Reroutes may be added, removed or changed, also based on actual conditions.
