The 83X Mid-Market Express has added two stops to serve the Showplace Square areas:

Inbound:

On Townsend at 8th, north corner, logical northeast (#17683)

Outbound

On Brannan after 8th, east corner, logical southeast  (#17684)

Mid-Market Express

Commute period connections between 4th and King Caltrain station to the Civic Center BART/Muni Station

WHEN: Beginning Monday, August 20, 2012

Commute periods only, Monday through Friday

7 to 11 a.m. and 4 to 8 p.m.

BENEFITS:

  • The 83X will operate in both directions between Market Street and Caltrain, improving connections to the Central Market area for SoMa and regional commuters and increasing access for residents living in the Central Market area.
  • It will share a terminal at Caltrain with the 47 Van Ness, providing customers with a local and an express option for traveling to Market Street

FACTS:

  • The proposed stops are shown on the route map and are listed below:
    • 9th at Market
    • 8th at Market
    • 4th at Townsend
  • The route will travel inbound from the Caltrain terminal on 4th Street and make a right turn on Townsend Street,, a right on Division and right on 9th Street to Market Street. The route would return to the Caltrain Station by turning right from 9th Street onto Market Street, right on 8th Street, left on Brannan Street, and right on 4th Street to the terminal
  • Towards Market Street, the 83X will make direct connections from 4th and Townsend streets to 9th and Market streets.
  • Towards Caltrain Station, the 83X will start at 9th and Market streets, make one stop at 8th and Market (BART/Muni Station) and then express to 4th and Townsend streets.

SCHEDULE:

Travel times between Caltrain and Civic Center BART/Muni stations will be approximately 10 minutes in each direction. The morning trips will be coordinated with Caltrain arrivals, while the evening trips will leave from Market Street at 15 minute intervals.
