Changes from Last Year

  • Pre-race express will run from 4:45 to 6:30 a.m.
  • Post-race:
    • 5X Route express service will leave from Fulton at 47th and 30th and serves either Civic Center or Montgomery Station as marked.
    • N Judah supplemental bus service will run as an express.
    • Post-race express service will run from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Express Service and Fares

Pre-Race Muni Service

4:45 to 6:30 a.m.:

  • The 5 Fulton Express Bus will depart from Fulton Street and 47th Avenue, making local stops until Masonic Avenue, then travel express to 1st and Mission streets. Special event fares apply.
  • The N Judah Express Bus will depart from Judah and La Playa streets, making local stops until Carl and Cole streets, then travel express to 1st and Mission streets. Special event fares apply.
  • The N Judah Muni Metro streetcar will run from Judah Street and 19th Avenue to Embarcadero Station.  Civic Center, Powell and Montgomery stations will not be served by any Muni Metro special service; they will open at 8 a.m. as usual. Special event fares apply.
  • Muni Metro service will run from West Portal to Embarcadero Station, stopping at Forest Hill, Castro, Church and Van Ness stations. Civic Center, Powell and Montgomery stations will not be served by any Muni Metro special service; they will open at 8 a.m. as usual. Special event fares apply.
  • The 1AX Express Bus will provide regular route service departing from 33rd Avenue and Geary Boulevard to 1st and Mission streets. Regular fares apply.
  • The 1BX Express Bus will provide regular route service departing from California Street and 12th Avenue to 1st and Mission streets. Regular fares apply.
  • The 31AX Express Bus will provide regular route service departing from Cabrillo and La Playa streets to 1st and Mission streets. Regular fares apply.
  • The 31BX Express Bus will provide regular route service departing from Balboa Street and 12th Avenue to 1st and Mission streets. Regular fares apply.
  • The 38AX Express Bus will provide regular route service departing from 48th and Pt. Lobos avenues to 1st and Mission streets. Regular fares apply.
  • The 38BX Express Bus will provide regular route service departing from Geary Boulevard and 25th Avenue to 1st and Mission streets. Regular fares apply.
  • The 8X Express Bus will run on its regular schedule starting at 4:43 a.m. Regular fares apply.

Post-Race Muni Service

In addition to the local routes that serve Golden Gate Park, there will be downtown express service available on both the north and south sides of the park.  This service will be the fastest way to downtown.

  • Service runs 8 a.m. to 2 p.m.
  • Fulton Express – In addition to the local Muni routes that serve Golden Gate Park, post-race Express Muni service will be located on the north side of Golden Gate Park on Fulton Street only. Express buses will pick up customers on Fulton Street at 47th and 30th avenues.  This service will be the fastest Muni service to downtown. Stops are as follows:
    • Montgomery Station Route:
      • Fulton at 47th, boarding.
      • Fulton at 30th, boarding.
      • Masonic at Turk, alighting, on request.
      • Bush and Fillmore, alighting, on request.
      • Bush and Van Ness, alighting, on request.
      • Montgomery Station.
    • 5X Civic Center Route:
      • Fulton at 47th, boarding.
      • Fulton at 30th, boarding.
      • Turk and Central, alighting, on request.
      • Turk and Divisadero, alighting, on request.
      • Golden Gate and Fillmore, alighting, on request.
      • Golden Gate and Ness, alighting, on request.
      • Civic Center Station
  • Special event fare (see below) required for the above services.

Local service (pre- and post-race)

Local services at regular fares available from Golden Gate Park to downtown are the 5 Fulton, 31 Balboa, 38 Geary, 71 Noriega. The N Owl Bus Route also runs pre-race and the N Judah Rail Line and supplemental bus route post-race. The 28 19th Avenue and 29 Sunset routes travel both north and south from Golden Gate Park.

Fares

Be sure to purchase your Muni fare in advance to speed up boarding and avoid lines. Special event fares are $10 for Adults. This fare is valid on all express and local service until 5 p.m. This fare is not valid on cable cars. Fares are available for cash purchase at the following locations; exact change is always appreciated. :

Pre-Race sales locations, 5 to 8 a.m.

  • Van Ness Station. 
  • Castro Station.
  • West Portal Station. 

Post-Race sales locations, 9:30 a.m. to 3 p.m.)

  • Fulton @ 30th Avenue.

Note: Muni vehicles stop only at existing marked Muni stops. Reroutes over streets not normally served by Muni will operate non-stop over those streets. Exceptions to this policy, if any, would be noted above as "temporary stop."
