The annual Independence Day fireworks display and celebration on July 4th at Aquatic Park and Fisherman’s Wharf will result in temporary street closures, service changes and potential delays for public transit customers. As many as 200,000 people may attend this annual event.

Typically, events of this size create access problems for all pedestrians, transit customers, bicyclists and motorists, so please be aware that the necessary street closures, combined with high pedestrian traffic and San Francisco’s hilly topography, will create temporary access barriers for people with disabilities.

SFMTA Accessible Services strongly suggests that customers with disabilities travel to the celebration on special Muni shuttle buses to Fisherman’s Wharf or on accessible regular bus routes and rail lines. Some of these services will be rerouted on July 4.

July 4th Service on Muni

During July 4th Muni will provide the following special, accessible bus shuttle services on The Embarcadero:

• Ferry Building to Fisherman’s Wharf from 2 p.m. to 8: 30 p.m.
(via stops on Embarcadero)

• CalTrain to Fisherman’s Wharf from 2 p.m. to 8: 30 p.m.
(via stops on Embarcadero)

• Van Ness & Market to Aquatic Park from 2 p.m. to 8: 30 p.m.
(via stops on Van Ness)

The following is a summary of service changes to regular Muni routes and lines for Friday, July 4:

Please note that service from the Ferry Building to Fisherman’s Wharf on the historic streetcar F Line will be provided by bus shuttles, not historic streetcars, beginning at 2 p.m. F Line streetcar service will continue to run on Market Street the remainder of the day.

Regular Muni Bus Service Changes

Changes to Muni bus routes and the Powell Cable Car Line on Friday, July 4th will begin at 2 p.m. and continue until midnight when Owl Service begins.

9X–BAYSHORE EXPRESS

INBOUND: Regular route to Bay & Stockton and then right on Stockton and right on Francisco

OUTBOUND: From Francisco & Stockton via Francisco and then left on Powell to regular route

10-TOWNSEND

INBOUND: Regular route to Bay & Stockton and then right on Stockton and right on Francisco

OUTBOUND: From Francisco & Stockton via Francisco and left on Powell to regular route

19-POLK

INBOUND: Regular route to Polk & Greenwich and then right on Greenwich, left on Larkin and left on Lombard

OUTBOUND: Begins on Lombard and then left on Polk to regular route

30-STOCKTON

INBOUND: From Chestnut & Van Ness and then right on Van Ness, left on Union and right on Columbus to regular route

OUTBOUND: From Stockton & Columbus via Stockton, left on Union, right on Van Ness and left on Chestnut to regular route

39-COIT

INBOUND: Regular route to Powell & Bay and then right on Bay, right on Stockton and right on Francisco

OUTBOUND: From Francisco & Stockton via Francisco and then left on Powell to regular route

47–VAN NESS

INBOUND: Regular route to Van Ness & Chestnut and then Left on Chestnut, right on Franklin and right on Francisco

OUTBOUND: From Francisco & Van Ness and then right on Van Ness to regular route

49-VAN NESS / MISSION

INBOUND: Regular route to Van Ness & Union, then left on Union, left on Fillmore, right on Green, right on Steiner, right on Union.

OUTBOUND: Via Union, right on Van Ness to regular route.

HYDE CABLE CARS

All Powell cable cars will operate only on the Mason Line. The California Cable Car Line will operate as normal.

Please note that the following Muni bus routes could be delayed by the number of transit customers and high pedestrian traffic after the fireworks: 91–Owl, 22–Filmore and 45–Union / Stockton
