Current Projects: Valencia Street

DPT/SFMTA Planning's Livable Streets Program launched a community planning project to draft a plan for pedestrian and traffic safety improvements on the Valencia Street corridor, from Market Street to Mission Street. The project is funded by a Caltrans Environmental Justice in Transportation Planning Program grant of $100,359, with Prop K local match of $11,000.

UPDATES

At the most recent community meeting, held on June 13th, 2006, DPW and SFMTA presented the overarching vision for Valencia Street. The conceptual plan is based upon community input from previous community meetings and workshops.

To view photos, plan drawings, street furniture details, a block-by-block plan, and more, you can download the Valencia Street June 2006 Update PowerPoint presentation (pdf).

Project implementation will begin as funding becomes secured.

ABOUT THE CALTRANS GRANT

The California Environmental Justice in Transportation Planning Program solicits projects that seek to foster environmental justice by planning transportation improvements in traditionally under-served diverse communities. The project was chosen by Caltrans for funding from six applications submitted by DPT. The six DPT applications included areas of the Excelsior, Bayview (2), lower Haight and Visitacion Valley . In recent funding cycles, San Francisco has been awarded funding for projects in the southeast Mission and on Outer Mission (Excelsior). In 2004 DPT again submitted a proposal for Visitacion Valley.
