West Portal Safe Routes to School Project (Updated 4/29/2013)
The design elements of the project include curb bulb-outs, islands and raised concrete where there is now painted markings around Dewey Circle. These features were approved at a public hearing in February. The project is now moving forward with detailed design which is expected to be completed in September, and construction expected to start in October.

A community meeting was held October 4, 2012 at the West Portal School auditorium in conjunction with the Parents Club monthly meeting.

The Dewey Boulevard Area-wide Traffic Calming project is back! (Updated 4/26/2013)

Dewey Area Map Residents will soon receive an update newsletter in the mail. With the delay in the project , the SFMTA wants to inform newly-included residents, and update those who have been involved since the two community meetings held in summer 2011. Click here to see the updated newsletter.

Once we’ve completed the survey and heard from people who want to apply for the community working group we’ll choose that group and begin the work of planning a systemic traffic calming proposal for the area.

This project is being made possible by the California Safe Routes to School Program and through a San Francisco County Transit Authority grant of Proposition K Local Transportation Sales Tax funds.
