Randolph / Broad Corridor Traffic Calming ProjectThis project was made possible in part by the San Francisco County Transportation Authority through a grant of Proposition K Local Sales Tax Funds and California State Infrastructure bonds. Project Update (as of January 12, 2012)The SFMTA proposes to stripe solid white edgelines on Randolph, Orizaba and Broad streets as outlined in the Randolph and Broad Traffic Calming Plan by summer 2012. The SFMTA is working with DPW (Department of Public Works) on the civil design of the intersection re-alignment at Randolph Street and Orizaba Avenue. Project BackgroundThe Randolph/Broad Traffic Calming Project is the result of a traffic calming application from residents in the Ocean View/Merced Heights/Ingleside Terrace neighborhood concerned with high vehicle speeds, exhibition driving and pedestrian safety. This project concentrates on the streets that the MUNI M-line uses in the Oceanview neighborhood, including Broad Street, Orizaba Avenue, Randolph Street and 19th Avenue. The project’s goals are to increase pedestrian and bicycle safety, address speeding, and restrict exhibition driving, while minimizing any impact on MUNI service.
