Zig-zag curves are added to a scenic hillside street to calm traffic

Neighborhoods across San Francisco are complaining about speeding traffic and commuters "cutting-through" their streets. SFMTA's Traffic Calming Program, part of our Livable Streets effort, is working on improving safety on San Francisco's streets. This program addresses some of the traffic problems associated with the growing number of cars in our city, by redesigning streets and sidewalks to make them friendlier for pedestrians, children, bicyclists, and motorists.
