Start date: May 17, 2010 End date: Sept. 3, 2010 Area affected: West Portal Updated Aug. 26, 2010 UpdatesThe St. Francis Circle project is completed. Normal rail service has been restored between West Portal Station and Balboa Park Station.
As the St. Francis Circle Rail Replacement Project construction is concluding on Sept. 3, the temporary crossover installed for the project will be removed on Sunday, August 29. As a result there will be construction work and some parking removal on Sunday, August 29, on West Portal Avenue between 14th and 15th avenues from 7 a.m. until 3 p.m. Approximately 12 parking spaces will be taken out of service on both sides of the 300 block of West Portal from 6 a.m. until 9 p.m. In addition, there may be some parking removal on the southeast corner of West Portal Avenue and Ulloa for 60 feet on Aug. 29 only. AboutThe San Francisco Municipal Transportation Agency's St. Francis Circle Rail Replacement Project will affect traffic and parking in West Portal. Construction will impact parking from Monday, May 17, through Friday, Sept. 3, 2010. The replacement of Muni tracks and other improvements at St. Francis Circle were scheduled to start on Monday, May 17, and conclude in late summer. While the SFMTA Capital Improvement Program is designed to keep all elements of the transportation network in a state of good repair and safe operation, we know that there will be inconveniences during construction such as temporary removal of some street parking. Parking will be temporarily removed for the duration of construction to provide adequate space for bus terminals and additional stops and to allow substitute buses to maneuver. An asterisk (*) indicates unmetered parking losses are estimates based on field observations or assumption of 20 feet per vehicle.
