Updated Neighborhood Parking Planning schedule: Northeast Mission, Dogpatch, Potrero Hill, and Western SoMa Tuesday, June 5, 2012 Updated Friday, November 30, 2012 The San Francisco Municipal Transportation Agency (SFMTA) has shifted the dates they expect to begin Neighborhood Parking Planning outreach in the Northeast Mission, Dogpatch, Potrero Hill, and Western SoMa to allow for two keys steps, as summarized below. Data collection During outreach thus far, many community members asked the SFMTA to gather more data on existing conditions to help refine and, later, evaluate the parking management plans. The SFMTA is implementing a supplemental data collection plan to inform a block-level analysis of each area. >> Download data and policies for the Northeast Mission project Making meter and RPP policies transparent The SFMTA has prepared a document that summarizes the SFMTA's considerations when determining where to use different parking management tools, whether parking meters, residential parking permits (RPP), or time limits. Download the SFMTA On-street Parking Management Policy document here. This document articulates and clarifies long-standing SFMTA practice and policy, and will help parking management across San Francisco be more transparent, effective, and consistent with the SFMTA's overall transportation goals. The SFMTA Board of Directors approved this document on September 18. New schedule To allow time for articulation of policy and additional data collection, the SFMTA has shifted the neighborhood outreach schedule. Outreach to the Northeast Mission is the most urgent because new parking management should be put in place before the parking lot at 17th and Shotwell Streets is transformed into a public park. The SFMTA now expects to restart outreach in neighborhoods in the following months: • Northeast Mission—underway (November 2012) • Potrero Hill—Summer 2013 • Dogpatch—Fall 2013 • Western SoMa—Fall 2013 The public is encouraged to email ParkingPlanning@SFMTA.com with any questions or comments.
