Leading edge technology helps to make SFpark possible.  This technology includes:

Smart meters

SFpark’s new smart parking meters will make it easier to pay, accepting coins, credit cards, and the SFMTA Smart Card.

Smart Sensors

Every on-street metered parking space in SFpark pilot areas will be equipped with a wireless smart sensor that detects the presence of a vehicle 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. The SFMTA will use this data to operate and evaluate SFpark, and well as to provide real-time parking availability information to drivers.

Data Management System

At the heart of SFpark is a state-of-the-art Data Management System (DMS). This system collects data from parking sensors and will share it with drivers via text message, online, and variable message signs. The DMS enables the SFMTA to analyze the historical availability on both on- and off-street parking.  This analysis drives the price adjustment process.  The DMS also manages all the data required to operate and evaluate SFpark.
