Start date: December 31, 2009
End date:
January 1, 2010
Area affected: Mid Embarcadero between Washington and Harrison Streets

At midnight, there will be a 17 minute fireworks show sponsored by the City of San Francisco. The fireworks will be set off from a barge in the Bay located south of the Ferry Building. The fireworks will be set off rain or moon shine.

While there are no planned street closures, we anticipate that traffic will be slow through the area during the fireworks show and immediately afterwards. In addition, there are several large events planned in the Civic Center area which may mean slow traffic in that area as well.

Motorists are encouraged to travel to their New Year’s Eve destinations early in the evening in order to avoid traffic congestion.

Union Square will be closed for cleaning again this year.
