Monthly passes are the most convenient way for regular customers to get unlimited access to Muni service, including cable cars, for a calendar month. They are only available on Clipper®. Fare increases for monthly passes are effective July 1, 2013.
The Clipper card is a convenient and secure way to manage your Bay Area transit fares and transfers in an easy-to-use, all-in-one, reloadable card. It is accepted throughout the city and the greater Bay Area on all Muni vehicles, BART, AC Transit, Caltrain, SamTrans, VTA, Golden Gate Transit and Ferry, and San Francisco Bay and Oakland/Alameda ferry service.
Monthly passes can be purchased on your Clipper card for the current month from the 1st –16th at any Clipper retailer or at a Ticket Vending Machine located in every Muni Metro Station. After the 16th of the month, the following month's pass is available for purchase.
The SFMTA offers two types of monthly passes:
Youth customers between the ages of 5 and 17 and Seniors 65 and older, you may obtain a discounted monthly pass on Clipper.
Special note regarding Youth Monthly Passes: As you approach your 18th birthday, keep in mind that your youth monthly pass will stop working on your birthday, even if it is the beginning or middle of the month. For more information, please refer to the Clipper website.
In order to qualify for a discount monthly pass, customers with qualifying disabilities must obtain a Regional Transit Connection (RTC) Discount Photo ID Clipper card.
