Cable Car Single Ride

Please purchase your cable car fare in advance of boarding the vehicle.
 

To board cable cars at Powell & Market, Bay & Taylor and Hyde & Beach Streets, you must purchase your fare in advance (applies 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily). Single ride fares can be purchased at a number of locations

For all-day travel, you may want to purchase a visitor Passport.

MuniMobile®: The SFMTA’s official ticketing app, MuniMobile lets you buy tickets instantly through a credit/debit card, PayPal account, Apple Pay or Google Pay.

Clipper® Card: Clipper is the all-in-one transit card for the Bay Area. Use your Clipper card on all major Bay Area transit systems, including Muni.

Cash: Exact change is required. Single ride fares can be purchased at a number of locations

If buying five or more paper Cable Card tickets at once, you can now purchase them online

Youth: The cable car is free for youth ages 4 and under. San Francisco youth, ages 18 and under, can ride for free if they are in possession of a Free Muni for Youth Clipper card. San Francisco youth not in possession of a Free Muni Clipper card can apply online

Cable car tickets are valid for a one-way trip only and not valid for transferring between cable car lines
 

To board cable cars in all other non-Terminal locations, or outside of Terminal kiosk hours of operation (8 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily), you may pay your fare to the cable car operator in cash with exact change only.
