The Parking and Traffic Division is responsible for designing, directing and managing all traffic engineering functions within San Francisco, including placement of signs, signals, traffic striping, curb markings, and parking meters to promote the safe and efficient movement of people and goods throughout the City. The Division is also responsible for the installation, repair, and maintenance of 23,000 parking meters, nearly 200,000 traffic signs, more than 1100 traffic signals, over 880 miles of lane lines, pavement messages, and special curb zones.To report faded or damaged pavement markings, broken parking meters, traffic signs needing repair, or malfunctioning traffic signal lights, please call 311.
