“On Tap” gives you a heads up about the big events in town and what Muni routes and lines will get you to the party. Look for this feature to be posted usually on Wednesdays for a weekend look-ahead.

Autumn Moon Festival
Saturday & Sunday, 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Chinatown

As summer gives way to fall, the Autumn Moon Festival roars to life on Saturday with a parade at 11 a.m. beginning at California and Grant. Festival activities include music and dance entertainment, an open-air street bazaar and even a dog costume contest! There will certainly be something for everyone.

Expect heavy traffic in the area due to street closures and large crowds.

Consider taking transit to this popular festival. The best Muni options for this event will be the 1 California, 8X Bayshore Express, 30 Stockton, 45 Union-Stockton, and California Cable Car.

Muni service note: The 10 Townsend and 12 Folsom-Pacific will both skip the inbound stop at Pacific and Grant (use Kearny or Stockton stops). The 1 California will experience service delays through the area.

Haight St. Music & Merchants Street Festival
Sunday, Noon – 6 p.m.
Masonic Avenue to Stanyan Street

Enjoy the waning days of summer as The Haight Street Merchants’ Association presents an all-new family friendly event featuring three music stages, a kid’s alley, a pro skate demo, and an open street block party.

Expect heavy vehicle and pedestrian traffic in and around the area.

Heading to the festival? Best Muni routes are: 6 Parnassus, 33 Stanyan, 43 Masonic, and 71 Haight-Noriega.

Muni service note: Due to street closures, the 33 Stanyan, 37 Corbett, 43 Masonic, and 71 Haight-Noriega will see re-routes in both directions.

For those biking to the festival, look for bike valet parking on Shrader Street between Page and Haight streets.

California Cable Car travels east on California Street with St. Mary's and Chinatown in the background.
