A Busy Weekend: Baseball, Cherry Blossoms & Sunday Streets
Subway Service Alert:
Due to overnight work for our Radio Replacement project, the subway will open up one hour later this weekend: Saturday at 7 a.m. and Sunday at 9 a.m. Early morning bus service will be extended to provide Metro service until the subway opens.

The first events-laden weekend of the year is upon us. If you’re looking for something to do, there’s baseball, cherry blossoms and a the ultimate block party: Sunday Streets in the Mission. Even with cooler temps and chance of showers, this weekend will still be a great time to be out and about.

S.F. Giants Baseball & Opening Day
Thursday thru Sunday, various times.
AT&T Park
If the mere fact that it’s Opening Week and the Giants home opener is tomorrow isn’t enough to get you excited, then let John Fogerty’s baseball classic anthem, the nostalgic “Centerfield” get you in the right frame of mind.
And what better way for the Giants to kick off their home season than with four games against their arch-nemesis: the Los Angeles Dodgers? One of baseball’s best rivalries, this early season showdown will help the Giants set the right tone in the N.L. West. Either Giant orange or Dodger blue, there is no middle ground.
If you plan on making your way to any of these games, you can take Muni to AT&T Park via the N Judah, T Third, 10 Townsend, 30 Stockton, 45 Union/Stockton and 47 Van Ness.

Muni service note: Muni Metro will provide additional ballpark shuttle trains to assist fans with both pre- and post- game service. Patrons should expect minor service delays near the ballpark due to heavier pedestrian and vehicle traffic.
Cherry Blossom Festival

Japantown
Centered in the nation’s oldest and largest Japantown, the 49th Annual Northern California Cherry Blossom Festival will welcome more than 200,000 visitors during its two full weekends celebrating Japanese and Japanese-American culture. This year, festival events will include pop culture fashion shows, a cosplay masquerade, martial art demos, music, dance and more.
Be advised that vehicle and pedestrian traffic will be heavy. Help ease congestion by taking public transportation. Muni service on the 2 Clement, 3 Jackson, 22 Fillmore, 38 Geary and 38R Geary Rapid will get you close to the festivities.
Muni service note: In addition to increase vehicle and pedestrian traffic, service routes may see delays due to increased ridership.
Sunday Streets: The Mission
Sunday, 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Valencia Street between McCoppin Plaza and 26th Street
The start of the 2016 Sunday Streets season takes place in one the event’s most popular neighborhoods - the Mission District. Come see circus performers and interactive art, plus games, dancing, music and more. The family and pet friendly atmosphere will provide a great opportunity to make some discoveries in Mission District food, art, music and more. No matter where you live, come out and explore.
While most of Valencia Street will be closed to vehicles, cross traffic will be allowed at the intersections of Duboce Avenue, 14th, 16th, 18th and 24th streets.
Due to street closures, parking will be limited. Consider taking the F Market, 12 Folsom/Pacific, 14 Mission, 14R Mission Rapid, 27 Bryant, 33 Ashbury/18th Street, 48 Quintara, 49 Mission/Van Ness, 55 16th Street, and 67 Bernal Heights routes.
Muni service note: The 12 Folsom/Pacific, 27 Bryant, and 55 16th Street will have re-routes. Expect some service delays on all Muni service in the surrounding areas due to increased vehicle and pedestrian traffic.
