Residents of northwest Bernal Heights have petitioned the SFMTA to form a new residential parking permit area to better manage and find parking closer to their homes.

In May 2017, a majority of residents voted to move forward with residential permit parking.  A breakdown of the voting results and project timeline can be found in the project's latest website update.

The proposal to create an RPP area on these blocks will be heard at an SFMTA Engineering Public Hearing at 10 a.m.  Interested parties are invited to attend and comment on the proposal.

The SFMTA is hosting a series of five workshops this summer to consult with project stakeholders and community groups about the design of the street. At the second stakeholder workshop, staff will revisit the project goals developed by the attendees of the first meeting. Project staff will then outline the design constraints, including policies, design guidelines, funding requirements, and physical constraints.

Following the workshops, an Open House will be held this fall to present the design that staff has developed in consultation with project stakeholders and community groups and to recieve feedback on the design from the public.

While the Folsom-Howard Streetscape Project’s long-term changes won't be completed until 2022, we can still make these two streets safer and more functional today.

Please join us at two community open houses to see proposed designs that will upgrade Folsom and Howard in the interim while the larger streetscape project is underway. Proposed street upgrades include parking-protected bike lanes, loading zone improvements and transit boarding islands that were developed using feedback from the public and local business community.

Our Meeting Round-Up feature highlights different SFMTA public meetings that will be held within the coming two weeks. These meetings give you the chance to share your ideas and provide us with helpful feedback. Join us at our next meeting to learn more about SF's changing and complex transportation system.

Those listed above are just a few highlights. You can find a full list of upcoming meetings to keep up to date on your favorite SFMTA committees.
