Sweet & Sunny Fun in Store for SF this Weekend

Wednesday, September 10, 2014

“On Tap” gives you a heads up about the big events in town and what Muni routes and lines will get you to the party. Look for this feature to be posted usually on Wednesdays for a look ahead to the weekend.

Ghirardelli Chocolate Festival
Saturday & Sunday, Noon to 5 p.m.
Ghirardelli Square

With Halloween still a month and a half a way, give your sweet tooth an early start to the candy season with some chocolaty goodness courtesy of the 19th Annual Ghirardelli Chocolate Festival.  In addition to the great tasting candy, activities will include six ice cream eating contests, culinary demos, a silent auction, and a lesson on chocolate making.

Expect additional pedestrian and vehicle traffic in and around the Aquatic Park area.

Chocolate lovers are encouraged to take Muni via the 19 Polk, 30 Stockton, 47 Van Ness, 49 Van Ness-Mission, the Powell-Hyde Cable Car, or the F Line streetcar.

Muni service note: Due to street closures, the 19 Polk will have re-routes in both directions near the Ghirardelli Square area.

Sunday Streets
Sunday, 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Western Addition

The painted ladies, Alamo Square, and picture perfect shots of City Hall are just a few of the things to see this weekend at Sunday Streets as it returns to the Western Addition.  Traverse the neighborhood in search of local art and cuisine plus hidden gems along the way.

Not to be missed will be the Alamo Square Flea Market, plus district 5 supervisor London Breed will be on site taking your questions at her listening booth.

Due to street closures and increased pedestrian and vehicle activity traffic is expected to be heavy.

In addition to biking, public transportation options include the 5 Fulton, 21 Hayes, 22 Fillmore, 24 Divisadero, and 38 Geary.

Muni service note: The 22 Fillmore will have re-routes in both directions.
