Weekend Traffic and Transit Advisory

The southbound bus stop on Van Ness Avenue at Vallejo Street has been temporarily relocated to southbound Van Ness Avenue at Green.

Friday, November 11 at 10 p.m. to Saturday, November 12 at 5 a.m., the left turns on southbound Van Ness Avenue at Broadway will be adjusted to two dedicated left turn lanes (from a dedicated left turn lane and a permissive left/southbound lane).

Saturday, November 12 and Sunday, November 13, left turn lanes at all intersections from Van Ness Avenue will be eliminated with the following exceptions:

  • Southbound at Broadway
  • Northbound at Lombard Street
  • Northbound at Hayes Street (until April 2017)

Motorists currently making left turns from Van Ness Avenue are advised to test new routes before the left turns are eliminated.

The night of Tuesday, November 15, the roadway will be narrowed from three to two traffic lanes in each direction along the Van Ness Avenue roadway for construction in the median. The lanes on Van Ness Avenue will be reduced from three lanes to two southbound at Broadway and northbound at McAllister.

As work progresses, the lane closures will expand north and south until it reaches Lombard and Mission streets. The roadway between Lombard and Mission streets is expected to be reduced from three lanes to two lanes in each direction by Wednesday, November 23.

Those who travel in and through the area are advised to take alternate routes and plan for delays.
