September 17, 2013, Update for Holloway Avenue Traffic Calming Project

In the Fall of 2013, additional changes will be made to address concerns expressed by the residents at community meetings.  These changes include:

  • A buffer on each side of the street so cars would not travel right next to the sidewalk (either parking or a bike lane would provide the desired buffer)
  • Wider lanes at night (parking would be allowed on only one side of the street at all times)
  • Increased visibility at intersections (red zones have been installed at some corners to improve visibility)
  • Improved accommodations for people on bicycles, especially along the sloped portion of Holloway Avenue (an uphill, eastbound bike lane is proposed from Beverly Street to Vernon Street and a westbound bike lane is proposed from Ashton Avenue to Vernon Street).
