Residential Parking Permit Application for Caregivers

Caregiver Permit Information

Caregiver Permits are available for the following types of care at residences in Residential Parking Permit areas. 

  • In Home Medical Care
  • In Home Child Care
  • Family Child Care Home employees

Applicant’s vehicle cannot be registered within the RPP area you are applying. The SFMTA will issue one (1) transferable parking permit to a resident of a permit area for use by up to three (3) Caregivers. This permit will be counted towards the maximum four permits allowed per address.

Annual: $170.00  

Expires within 6 months: $85.00

Medical Caregiver Permits

For residents who require home health care service on a regular basis. 

Requirements - submit application along with:

  • Proof of residency within the RPP area
  • Vehicle registration in the licensed caregiver’s name.
  • Completed medical affidavit signed by the resident's licensed physician. (must be updated annually).

Child Care Permits

For residents who require in home childcare for minors 12 years of age and under. 

Requirements - submit application along with:

  • Proof of residency within the RPP area
  • A completed childcare affidavit (must be updated annually).
  • Copy of birth certificate(s) of all children for whom care will be provided. (must resubmit a copy for each child every year to renew this permit).

Family Child Care Home Employees

For employees of Family Child Care Homes licensed by the California Health and Human Services Agency. Applicant’s vehicle cannot be registered within the RPP area.

Requirements - submit application along with:

  • Proof of residency within the RPP area
  • State issued Home Family Day Care license (must be updated annually).

 

If lost, stolen, or adding additional plates, the this permit type is treated as a transfer
