Under The Loupe: Cars Around Town

San Francisco's streets see all kinds of vehicles and while the Muni Photographers of the past were primarily focused on public transportation, their cameras often caught some pretty sweet rides in the private automotive transportation sector.  Today's 44-year look back to December 11, 1970 catches one of those cool cars in a rather 'pedestrian' view of the Outer Mission Substation.

There's a sporty secret lurking amongst the commonplace VW Beetles parked around the substation and it just happens to come from the same German bloodlines (or would that be oil lines?).

Taking a closer look, we see that someone at the substation was the lucky owner of this early Porsche 911, one of the most popular sports cars of all time.  Jumping up the cost ladder about $5,000-7,000 over a VW Bug, buying a 911 was really paying a premium for the unrivaled driving experience and quality engineering they offered.

Any Porsche fanatics out there able to identify the correct year and model of this slope-backed speed demon?
