“On Tap” gives you a heads up about the big events in town and what Muni routes and lines will get you to the party. Look for this feature to be posted usually on Wednesdays for a look ahead to the weekend.

Previously scheduled track, sewer, and infrastructure work on the Sunset Tunnel that was slated to resume this Friday, Jan. 23 has been canceled. Currently, there is no scheduled date for a resumption of construction work. Remember, you can receive up to date information on this and other SFMTA projects and services by signing up for email or Text/SMS alerts.

Walk For Life
Saturday, 1:30 p.m.
Civic Center

The annual walk, drawing thousands of participants, will commence at 1:30 p.m at the U.N./Civic Center Plaza traverse down Market Street to Justin Herman Plaza.

Beginning at 1:00 p.m. no traffic will allowed on Market Street between 10th and Steuart streets. Due to the street closures, traffic around the area will be impacted. Plan ahead and utilize alternative routes to avoid delays.

Muni service note: the 2 Clement, 5 Fulton, 6 Parnassus, 8X Bayshore Express, 9 San Bruno, 10 Townsend, 12 Folsom/Pacific, 14L Mission Limited, 19 Polk, 21 Hayes, 27 Bryant, 38/38L Geary, and 71 Haight Noriega will have re-routes around the affected area while the 14 Mission, 30 Stockton, 45 Union/Stockton, 31 Balboa, and F Market will see switch backs. Use the Muni Metro subway as an alternative.

Sometimes life feels like it has gone to the dogs! Well, thanks to the Golden Gate Kennel Club, this weekend definitely belongs to man’s best friend…lots of them.

Competition at the West Coast’s premier benched dog show will be tough as dogs of all shapes and sizes including newly recognized breeds like the Dutch Shepherd and French Spaniel vie for the top spot at a dog fashion show, flyball races, owner-handler skills competition, plus the all-important Best Puppy in Show contest.

If you are looking to avoid the drive, dog lovers and show enthusiasts can utilize the 8X Bayshore Express or the 9 San Bruno routes to see the furry warriors go muzzle to muzzle.

Muni service note: there are no anticipated impacts on 8X Bayshore Express or 9 San Bruno service during the weekend.
