Easter Potpourri (And Giants!)

Wednesday, April 1, 2015

Warm spring weather means more weekend events, and this weekend will be no exception. Easter Sunday in San Francisco can range from the solemn, Sunrise Service on Mount Davidson* to over the top fun courtesy of the Big Your Own Big Wheel event down what is arguably the city’s crookedest street, Vermont Street. Oh, and the baseball Bay Bridge Series is this week.

(*) Muni will provide extra early morning service on the 36 Teresita Route beginning at 5 a.m.

SF Giants vs Oakland A’s
Thursday and Friday, 7:15 p.m.
AT&T Park

With opening day less than a week away, the 2014 World Series champion San Francisco Giants close out spring training by hosting the Bay Bridge Series as the Oakland A’s come to AT&T Park for two night games. An always entertaining series, both teams look to get some early season swagger at the expense of their cross bay rivals.

In order to avoid heavy traffic, baseball fans are encouraged to take public transportation. Muni service on the 10 Townsend, 30 Stockton, 45 Union/Stockton, and 47 Van Ness routes, plus Muni Metro via the N Judah and T Third lines will get you to and from the ballpark.

Muni service note: Muni Metro will be running ballpark shuttle trains to provide additional service. Patrons should expect minor service delays near the ballpark due to pedestrian and vehicle traffic.

Union Street Spring Celebration
Sunday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Union Street between Gough and Fillmore streets

An enjoyable event for the family, the 24th Annual Spring Celebration features the best of the neighborhood’s shops and eateries. The kids will be ecstatic with pony rides, a petting zoo, bouncy houses, a climbing wall, and more. The celebration includes an Easter Parade at 2 p.m. which will feature roller-blading cows, self-propelled mini-floats, and classic cars. It’s a must see family experience.

Enjoy the day and avoid the hassle of looking for parking by taking Muni. Rides on the 22 Fillmore, 24 Divisadero, 28 19th Avenue, 30 Stockton, 43 Masonic, 45 Union/Stockton, 47 Van Ness, and 49 Mission/Van Ness routes will get you close to the festivities.

Muni service note: due to street closures the 45 Union will be re-routed. The 22 Fillmore may see delays near the event.
