Help Make Market Street Safer

Monday, August 10, 2015

As we discussed last week, as The Chronicle explained this morning and as other media partners have pointed out here and here, changes are coming to downtown streets that will restrict you from driving on Market Street. Starting tomorrow, at several locations between 3rd and 8th streets you will no longer be allowed to turn onto Market Street.

Below is a handy map. It may be helpful to note that while Central Subway construction has Stockton and Ellis closed at Market Street, northbound turns will be allowed from 5th Street onto Market in order to get to 4th Street.

We are grateful for the support of Supervisors Christensen and Kim, who attended our press conference today, Assemblyman David Chiu, our community partners from WalkSF and the San Francisco Bicycle Coalition, merchants from the Market Street corridor, representatives from the Yerba Buena and Market Street community benefit districts, and our city partners at the SF County Transportation Authority.

Here is an FAQ(.pdf) in case you still have questions.
