Comment Guidelines

The SFMTA welcomes comments and opinions from all visitors to our online communities relating to San Francisco transportation topics and issues. The purpose of this blog is to present matters of public interest concerning the SFMTA’s programs and activities. All visitors to our page must abide by our online comment guidelines.

The SFMTA reserves the right to remove any comments that:

  • Are unrelated to the purpose or topical scope of the page
  • Are spam (unsolicited commercial advertising) or duplicate posts by the same commenter
  • Contain private personal information (whether your own or someone else’s) including home address, home or cell phone number, personal e-mail address, or personal identification numbers, in order to protect privacy
  • Concern a declared political candidate or ballot measure scheduled for consideration by the voters in an upcoming election, or an initiative petition submitted to the San Francisco Department of Elections
  • Are defamatory statements
  • Include obscene material, as defined by state law
  • Advocate imminent lawlessness or violent action
  • Violate the copyright, trademark, or other intellectual property rights of the SFMTA or others
  • Are third party links

The SFMTA may also take steps to remove “robo spam” and/or comments by “social bots” (i.e. content posted by automatic software programs, or “bots”) if necessary to ensure access for the general public.

Furthermore, while we encourage debate and discussion, we respectfully request that commenters be mindful that this page is open to the public and that commenters be courteous and civil toward one another.

The SFMTA is not responsible for, and neither endorses nor opposes, comments placed on this page by visitors to this page. Members of the public are personally responsible for their own comments, username, and/or any information placed on this page by the commenter.

Please do not post external links or URLs to the SFMTA Facebook page. The SFMTA does not condone or support links placed on this page by commenters. Visitors are encouraged to use their own judgment before accessing any links posted by others on this page.

Violation of the SFMTA’s online comment guidelines will result in a commenter's post being removed without notice.

The SFMTA blog, Moving SF, is for general discussion among its users and is not intended to replace information and features found at, such as updated service alert announcements, rider information, official customer comment forms, Board of Directors information and more.

To provide feedback regarding an incident or to provide a compliment or complaint, please contact San Francisco’s 24x7 customer service center, 311, by visiting or calling 3-1-1.

By contacting 311, you can obtain information regarding City services, report problems, and submit service requests to the City and County of San Francisco. By reporting complaints, commendations and concerns, you can be assured your information will reach all appropriate personnel, the response will be tracked, and you will have a single point of entry for and resolution of your concern or request.
