Meet us in the Mission: Sunday Streets Season Finale this Weekend

Friday, October 16, 2015

Sunday Streets in the Mission, May 2015
Sunday Streets in the Mission | May 2015.

The weather Sunday is forecast to be partly cloudy but the streets will be clear on the fourteen blocks of Valencia between McCoppin and 26th.  This is the final Sunday Streets of the 2015 season, a capstone event in a neighborhood that regularly turns out the most visitors of all Sunday Streets events citywide.

Mark your calendars to drop by between 11 a.m. and 4 p.m. this Sunday October 18, when the Mission will convert into a free, family-friendly zone that encourages physical activity, community togetherness and neighborhood exploration. This is the second time this year that Livable City will transform Valencia Street into a pedestrian and bicycle boulevard to celebrate a hands-on exploration of San Francisco’s streets and local businesses.

The SFMTA is the lead sponsor of Sunday Streets, and we're proud to work with so many great city partners and Livable City to promote SF's  transit-first goals as well as a safe and healthy way to get around – one neighborhood at a time. These events require a lot of work and planning by all, including some heavy lifting from our parking control officers, who keep the cars safely moving around the foot traffic. The end results are absolutely worth it. Each event is unique and offers a great time for all ages.

More than140 partners contribute to this weekend’s festive atmosphere, bringing live music, free bike rentals and activities for kids and adults alike. Cruise the Mission from a new perspective and linger in a street filled with food stalls, impromptu dance lessons, sidewalk sales and more.

For first-timers and regular attendees, the season finale on Valencia is the Sunday Streets to attend. Look for the SFMTA host booth for information about transportation in SF, especially the 14 Mission Rapid Project and Muni Forward service improvements.  We hope to see you there, too!
