Arts Commission Unveils Van Ness Public Art Proposal

An art proposal for public art to be installed on Van Ness Avenue after the construction of the Van Ness Corridor Transit Improvement Project has been announced by the San Francisco Arts Commission. The public art proposal from selected artist Jorge Pardo is on exhibit now through Monday, September 28, at the San Francisco Public Library's Main Branch in the entrance atrium near Grove Street, and on the San Francisco Arts Commission website.

Jorge Pardo's proposal consists of three large illuminated steel sculptures that would be installed on the ends of the new Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) bus platforms at Market, Sutter and Union streets. The sculptures would be installed after construction of the Van Ness Corridor Transportation Project is completed.

The SFAC invites to public to provide comment on this public art proposal at the Visual Arts Committee during the public comment period on October 21, 2015, 3 p.m. at 401 Van Ness Avenue, Room 125. You may also email your comments to Zoë Taleporos, Public Art Program Associate at zoe.taleporos@sfgov.org, or mail or hand deliver comments to 25 Van Ness Avenue, Suite 345. All comments are due by 5 p.m. on October 20, 2015.
