Muni Service Equity Strategy Workshop - Tenderloin, South of Market, and Chinatown neighborhoods

Thursday, February 22, 6:30 p.m.
1010 Mission Street
Nearby Muni Routes: 5, 12, 14, 19, 27, 30, 45, Powell Station

The Equity Strategy will benefit eight neighborhoods by adding service treatments that can be put into action quickly while delivering improvements to safety, reliability, frequency and crowding.  Also, the strategy hopes to establish a performance baseline for Muni routes serving each Equity neighborhood.

Staff identified neighborhoods with high percentages of households with low incomes and people of color. Staff also included routes heavily used by seniors and people with disabilities into the analysis. The eight neighborhoods identified for this process include Bayview, Chinatown, Excelsior-Outer Mission, Inner Mission, Oceanview-Ingleside, Tenderloin-South of Market, Visitacion Valley, and Western Addition.

This month, the team will hold workshops in five Equity Neighborhoods to fully understand if the key needs that were uncovered through the outreach process align with their needs.  For information on the other workshops go to our calendar.

Excelsior Neighborhood Traffic Calming Project Open House

Saturday, March 3, 12 p.m.
455 Athens St
Nearby Muni Routes: 8, 14, 29, 49, 52, 54

The SFMTA will lead a collaborative community planning process in the Excelsior with the goal of creating safer and more comfortable neighborhood streets for people accessing schools, parks, transit, and nearby commercial corridors.

We will work with the community to identify neighborhood traffic challenges, including locations with excess speeding, “cut-through” traffic, and difficult walking and biking connections to local destinations. Through this community planning process, the SFMTA will also look into opportunities for safety improvements along residential streets.

Our Meeting Round-Up feature highlights different SFMTA public meetings that will be held within the coming two weeks. These meetings give you the chance to share your ideas and provide us with helpful feedback. Join us at our next meeting to learn more about SF's changing and complex transportation system.

Those listed above are just a few highlights. You can find a full list of upcoming meetings to keep up to date on your favorite SFMTA committees.
