Carnaval Festival and Parade

Saturday and Sunday, 10 AM to 6 PM
Mission

From its humble beginnings of roughly three hundred drummers and dancers dressed in brightly-colored costumes parading around Precita Park in the Mission District, San Francisco's Carnaval has become perhaps one of the largest and most diverse celebrations of its kind in the country. Forty years later, Carnaval is bigger, brighter, and more festive than ever and all are invited to head to the Mission this weekend to take in the sights and sounds, food and drink, and general revelry of this special annual event.

On Sunday, the grand parade will begin at 9:30 a.m. at 24th and Bryant streets, proceed down 24th Street to Mission Street, then turn north towards 17th Street and South Van Ness Avenue.

How to Get There on Muni: The 9 San Bruno, 12 Folsom-Pacific, 14 Mission/14R Mission Rapid, 22 Fillmore, 27 Bryant, 33 Ashbury/18th St., 48 Quintara/24th Street, 49 Van Ness/Mission, 55 16th Street and 67 Bernal Heights routes will take you close to the festival.

Muni Service Note: The 12, 14/14R, 27, 33, 48, 49, 55 and 67 will see reroutes. The 9 and 22 routes may see increased ridership and delays.

TreasureFest (formerly Treasure Island Flea)

Saturday and Sunday, 10 AM to 4 PM
Treasure Island

It may have a new name, but it's still the same great island fun! Formerly known as the Treasure Island Flea, TreasureFest kicks off its inaugural weekend this Saturday and Sunday on Treasure Island. TreasureFest is part shopping, part food, part music and --this weekend-- part birthday celebration as the event enters its seventh year of bringing weekend festivities to Treasure Island.

How to Get There on Muni: The 25 Treasure Island Route is the simplest way to and from all this island party.

Muni Service Notes: There are no planned service changes for this event, though the 25 may see some minor delays and overcrowding due to increased ridership.

Ritch Street Block Party

Saturday, 11 AM to 4 PM
SoMa

It's tough to top the fun factor of a good old fashioned block party and the residents and businesses of Ritch Street in SoMa understand that. With summer just around the corner, they are kicking off the first annual Ritch Street Block Party on the 300 block of its eponymous street between Brannan and Townsend streets. This a party to which everyone is invited for food, drinks, music, shopping local vendors and more. There will be plenty of fun for the entire family, so be sure to bring the kids, too!

How to Get There on Muni: Get to the party using the K Ingleside/T Third Street or N Judah lines, as well as the 8 Bayshore, 10 Townsend, 30 Stockton, 45 Union/Stockton or the 47 Van Ness routes.

Muni Service Notes: There are no planned service changes for this event, though Muni routes in the area may see an increase in ridership to and from the event.

Upcoming California Cable Car Bus Substitutions

Beginning next weekend through Monday, June 2-4, 2018, the California Cable Car Line will have bus substitutions due to construction work planned for those dates. Beginning at 6:30 AM on June 2 and continuing through the end of service at 12:30 PM on June 4, bus shuttles will stop at the regular cable car stops on California Street between Van Ness Avenue and Drumm Street. Service will be unavailable at the terminal on Drumm Street: Customers may board at Drumm and California streets in front of the Hyatt Regency. Buses traveling east will terminate at California and Davis streets. The stop on California at Powell Street will provide a transfer point between buses and cable cars. Regular bus fare is required for riding the bus ($2.75 cash/ $2.50 for Clipper or the Muni Mobile app).
