Van Ness Avenue Construction Forecast: August 27 - September 7, 2018

The following Van Ness Improvement Project construction forecast is subject to change. For more project details, please visit sfmta.com/vanness.

The night shift for construction is scheduled between the hours of 8:00 p.m. and 7:00 a.m. During this time, neighbors are advised to anticipate construction-related noise and vibrations as crews work diligently to complete necessary night work.

Tentative Schedule:

Lombard to Greenwich: Monday through Wednesday, August 27 through August 29, and Tuesday through Friday, September 4 through September 7, crews are scheduled to work on sewer installation. Wednesday through Friday, August 29 through August 31, crews are scheduled to work on sidewalk tree stump removal.

Night work is scheduled Monday through Wednesday, August 27 through August 29, between the hours of 8:00 p.m. and 7:00 a.m., when crews are scheduled to work on sewer main installation. Disruptive noise is expected.

Greenwich to Filbert: Tuesday through Friday, September 4 through September 7, crews are scheduled to work on water main installation and to pothole for upcoming work.

Union: Wednesday through Friday, August 29 through August 31, and Thursday through Friday, September 6 through September 7, crews are scheduled to perform water work. On Friday, August 31, crews are also scheduled to work on permitted sidewalk tree removal.

Night work is scheduled Friday, August 31, between the hours of 8:00 p.m. and 7:00 a.m., when crews are scheduled to perform water work.

Green to Vallejo: Monday through Friday, August 27 through August 31, and Tuesday through Friday, September 4 through September 7, crews are scheduled to work on sidewalk replacement.

Jackson to Washington: Tuesday through Thursday, August 28 through August 30, crews are scheduled to work on permitted sidewalk tree removal.

Clay to Sacramento: Monday, August 27 and Tuesday, August 28, crews are scheduled to work on permitted sidewalk tree removal. Thursday, August 30, and Wednesday, September 5, crews are scheduled to prepare the area for upcoming sewer work.

Sacramento to California: Monday through Friday, August 27 through August 31, and Tuesday through Friday, September 4 through September 7, crews are scheduled to work on sewer main installation. Intensive noise and vibration is expected. Monday, August 27 and Tuesday, August 28, crews are also scheduled to work on permitted sidewalk tree removal.

California to Pine: Monday through Friday, August 27 through August 31, and Tuesday through Friday, September 4 through September 7, crews are scheduled to work on sewer main installation. Intensive noise and vibration is expected.

Bush to Sutter: Tuesday through Friday, September 4 through September 7, crews are scheduled to work on sewer main installation and to perform water work. Intensive noise and vibration is expected.

Post to Geary Monday through Friday, August 27 through August 31, crews are scheduled to work on sewer main installation.

Geary to O'Farrell: Monday through Friday, August 27 through August 31, and Tuesday through Friday, September 4 through September 7, crews are scheduled to perform water work. Monday through Friday, August 27 through August 31, crews are also scheduled to work on sewer main installation and to install a joint-utility trench. Thursday September 6 and Friday September 7, crews are also scheduled to install a join-utility trench.

Night work is scheduled Monday through Friday, August 27 through August 31, and Tuesday through Friday, September 4 through September 7, between the hours of 8:00 p.m. and 7:00 a.m., when crews are scheduled to work on updating the emergency firefighting system. Disruptive noise is expected and access to Myrtle street from the west side of Van Ness Avenue might be limited.

O'Farrell to Ellis: Monday through Friday, August 27 through August 31, and Tuesday through Friday, September 4 through September 7, crews are scheduled to work on sidewalk replacement and to perform water work.

Ellis to Eddy: Monday through Friday, August 27 through August 31, and Tuesday through Friday, September 4 through September 7, crews are scheduled to work on sidewalk replacement. Crews are also scheduled to work on water and sewer installation.

Eddy to Turk: Monday through Friday, August 27 through August 31, and Tuesday through Friday, September 4 through September 7, crews are scheduled to work on sidewalk replacement. Crews are also scheduled to pothole for upcoming work and to perform water work.

Turk to Golden Gate: Monday through Friday, August 27 through August 31, and Tuesday through Wednesday, September 4 through September 5, crews are scheduled to install a joint-utility trench.

Golden Gate to McAllister: Monday through Friday, August 27 through August 31, crews are scheduled to work on sidewalk replacement.

Van Ness traffic lanes have shifted

In the early hours of Thursday, August 23, traffic lanes on Van Ness Avenue, between Jackson and Sutter streets, shifted slightly in order to make room for construction. Drivers are advised to exercise extra caution when traveling on Van Ness.

New construction zones will be created and sidewalk fencing is expected to be installed on the east side of these blocks between Thursday, August 23, and Saturday, August 25.
