Muni On Ice!

Tuesday, November 6, 2018

People ice skating at Union Square.

Walk, bike, roll and ice skate? −‘Tis the season for SFMTA’s 11th annual co-sponsorship of the Union Square Ice Rink, opening Wednesday, November 7. Also this holiday season, San Francisco will be on the cutting edge with a brand new ice rink, Winter Park at Civic Center, opening Friday, November 30.

Both rinks will host an array of events, (skate) dance parties and traditions such as curling lessons and the ever popular Drag Queens on Ice (Union Square). Keep warm and carry on at iHeart Radio-sponsored dance party DJ nights each Wednesday evening (Winter Park). Check the events calendar on the ice rink web page to see what’s in store.

Union Square will be the best spot to see the clanging caravan of soon-to-be decorated cable cars. The Powell Lines will carry the holiday spirit on full display giving sightseers the chance to catch these SF icons decked out in tinsel and sparkles. All along Market Street, the historic streetcars are sure to rival the holiday cheer of their cabled cousins, providing the quickest transit between rinks.
