Mission Holiday Block Party and Cookie Crawl

Saturday, 12 p.m. to 8 p.m.
Mission

Explore the Valencia Corridor this Saturday during the fourth annual Cookie Crawl. A suggested one-time donation of $10-$20 at any participating merchant --the proceeds of which will go to support the Buena Vista Horace Mann K-8 Public School-- will net a cookie bag and a map of all the other participating shops. Keeping an eye out for the balloons that will guide the way, participants can then spend the rest of the day exploring the Valencia Corridor, picking up cookies at any of the participating shops, meeting neighbors, shopping exclusive discounts and more.

How to Get There on Muni: Riders may take the 14 Mission, 14R Mission Rapid, 22 Fillmore, 33 Ashbury/18th Street, 49 Van Ness/Mission, or the 55 16th Street routes to near Valencia and 16th streets.

Muni Service Notes: There are no planned service changes for this event though routes to the area may see increased ridership.

Parol Light Festival

Saturday, 5 p.m. to 8 p.m.
South of Market

The parol lantern is the quintessential Filipino symbol of hope, blessings, luck and peace during the holiday season. Such lanterns can be found lighting up windows in Filipino homes throughout the world. This Saturday's 16th annual Parol Festival in Jessie Square in SoMa is not just a celebration, but also a reflection of history in the area which has long been a site of resistance against community displacement. It is a reminder of the community’s strength and the ways it has continued to rise up. This year’s theme will honor the resilience of leaders, artists, youth, student groups and especially families who have faced political and economic challenges for decades in San Francisco and the Bay Area. The festival features a parol lantern parade, a gallery of handmade parols, with live music and dance performances.

How to Get There on Muni: Riders may utilize any Muni Metro Line to Powell Station, the F Market and Wharves Line, any Market Street bus route as well as the 8 Bayshore, 10 Townsend, 12 Folsom/Pacific, 14 Mission, 14R Mission Rapid, 27 Bryant, 30 Stockton, or the 45 Union/Stockton routes to the event near Yerba Buena Gardens.

Muni Service Notes: There are no planned service changes for this event though routes to the area may see increased ridership.

Remember that you can take Muni the entire day for a single $5 fare. The new $5 Day Pass, available on MuniMobile®, is part of Muni’s recent fare changes. The pass is intended to encourage a safe, convenient way to pay your fare and quickly board Muni vehicles, which reduces overall travel time for everyone. The $5 Day Pass is Muni bus, rail and historic streetcars only.
