This Weekend: Tater Tot Day, Chinese Flower Fair and a Half-Marathon
Events: This weekend will feature no shortage of entertainment around the City. Friday is the first of the ten-day San Francisco Beer Week celebrations, Saturday will feature events such as National Tater Tot Day in SoMa, the American Indian Two-Spirit Powwow: Dance and Drum Festival at Fort Mason, and the Kaiser Permanente Half Marathon in Golden Gate Park on Sunday. National Tater Tot Day
Saturday, 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.
SoMa
Saturday is National Tater Tot Day (rejoice!) and so the folks at the SoMa StEat Food Park are ready to celebrate with a delicious tater-themed event. More than 10 vendors will be on site to dish out mountains of tasty, toasted tater-tot treats to be enjoyed along with a refreshing craft beer menu from Bay Area breweries and live music.
How to Get There on Muni: Savor some SoMa spuds by taking the 9 San Bruno, 12 Folsom/Pacific, 27 Bryant or the 47 Van Ness routes to near the event on 11th Street.
Muni Service Notes: There are no planned service changes for this event. It is possible that routes to the event may experience minor delays due to an increase in ridership.
Chinese New Year Flower Fair
Saturday and Sunday, various times
Chinatown
The Chinese New Year Flower Fair takes place the weekend before the Lunar New Year holiday, which is this Saturday and Sunday. During this time, families can enjoy the festive atmosphere and purchase fresh flowers, fruits, candies and brand new supplies for the home to begin the new lunar year. Chinatown will be no exception as the neighborhood explodes with colors and festivity.
How to Get There on Muni: Riders may take the 1 California, 2 Clement, 3 Jackson, 8 Bayshore, 10 Townsend, 12 Folsom/Pacific, 30 Stockton, 45 Union/Stockton or the 76X Marin Headlands Express routes to near the event.
Muni Service Notes: The 10 and 12 will have reroutes during this event. All routes in the area may expierience slight delays due to increased ridership or pedestrian activity.
Kaiser Permanente Half Marathon and 5K
Sunday, 8 a.m.
Golden Gate Park
While many people will be spending their Sunday morning getting ready for the big game in Houston, a dedicated few will be lacing up their running shoes to tackle the most scenic running course in the country — the Kaiser Permanente Half Marathon. This certified 13.1 mile course will lead participants through picturesque Golden Gate Park and out onto the Great Highway for the natural beauty of Ocean Beach. Runners will then head south to the San Francisco Zoo and then back up to the park to hit the finish line on JFK Drive.
How to Get There on Muni: Riders may take the N Judah, 5 Fulton, 6 Haight/Parnassus, 7 Haight/Noriega, 18 46th Avenue, 21 Hayes, 22 Fillmore, 23 Monterey, 28 19th Avenue, 29 Sunset, and 44 O’Shaughnessy routes.
Muni Service Notes: The 18, 23, 33, and 43 will have reroutes for this event. All routes to and from the area of the race may see slight delays due to increased ridership.
