Letter: Community Advisory Group Membership 1/1/10

Dear potential CAG members:

The Central Subway Project is an important transportation improvement that will extend the Muni Metro T Third line through SoMa, Union Square and Chinatown, linking these vital retail and employment centers to eastern and southeastern San Francisco via rapid transit. Four new stations will be built along the 1.7-mile Central Subway route on 4th Street and Stockton Street – one street-level station and three underground subway stations. When the Central Subway opens, it will vastly improve public transit in and around downtown while enhancing service along the entire T Third Line.

The Central Subway Project Community Advisory Group (CAG), an advisory body, was appointed during the Project’s initial stages. Its objective is to engage with the local community and to receive input and feedback at key milestones throughout the project. The CAG is made up of representatives from neighborhoods along the entire T Third Line, from Sunnydale to Chinatown. The CAG meets quarterly on the third Thursday of February, May, August and November.

As we move into a new phase of the Central Subway Project, we are seeking new members to join the CAG. Currently there are 2-3 open seats we are looking to fill. If you are interested in joining the CAG, please follow the instructions listed in this document. To learn more about the CAG, read our participation guidelines here. If you know someone who is interested in becoming a part of the CAG, please forward this information to them or provide us with their name and contact information and we will contact them directly.

We would like to see you join with us to ensure the success of the Central Subway. Should you have any questions, please contact Charles Chan at charles.chan@sfmta.com or 415-701-5267.

Sincerely,
John Funghi
