Upcoming Traffic Switch and Van Ness Improvement Project Construction Forecast: January 11 - January 22, 2021

Those traveling on the corridor are advised to stay alert and allow more travel time during construction. Polk Street, one block east of Van Ness Avenue, is a recommended alternative for people traveling by bicycle in the area.

At times, bus stops along Van Ness Avenue and its side streets need to be relocated to perform construction for the Van Ness Improvement Project. Signage directs riders to temporary stops.

The work listed below is scheduled for daytimes, 7:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. Planned night work is italicized. The night shift for construction is 8:00 p.m. to 7:00 a.m. During this time, neighbors are advised to anticipate construction-related noise and vibrations as crews work diligently to complete necessary night work.

The following Van Ness Improvement Project construction forecast is subject to change. For more project details, please visit  SFMTA.com/VanNess. In the next two weeks crews are scheduled to work on traffic improvements, remaining sewer work, overhead power installations, light pole setting and related work at the following locations.

Monday through Friday, January 11 through January 15
A shift to traffic lanes between Sutter and Eddy is scheduled for January 11 and 12. At least one lane of traffic will be maintained in each direction. 

  • ENTIRE CORRIDOR - North Point to Mission. *Disruptive noise is expected. Night work is scheduled Monday through Friday between the hours of 8:00 p.m. and 7:00 a.m.

Monday through Friday, January 18 through January 22
A shift to traffic lanes between Fell and Mission is scheduled for January 19 to 21. At least one lane of traffic will be maintained in each direction. 

  • ENTIRE CORRIDOR - North Point to Mission. *Disruptive noise is expected. Night work is scheduled Monday through Friday between the hours of 8:00 p.m. and 7:00 a.m.
