Dear Taxi Industry Partners:

The images from the news, both locally and from around the country, increase the sadness and trauma many are already feeling due to incidents that lead to the protests and to the current public health crisis. We wanted reach out and reassure you that taxis provide a valuable service to the city and we want taxi drivers to feel prepared.

According to the Public Safety Curfew beginning tonight, the mayor’s office provided the following exemption in this morning's press release:

“Individuals who can establish to the satisfaction of a peace officer that they are in such place for the sole purpose of traveling to a home or workplace or to obtain medical assistance.”

The SFMTA continues to offer essential transit service.  Similarly, taxi service is also categorized as essential, and taxi drivers providing essential services are exempt from the curfew.

Safety is our number one priority, so please be safe and take care.
