About the Taxi Advisory CouncilThe San Francisco Municipal Transportation Agency (SFMTA) Board of Directors has authorized the formation of a Taxi Advisory Council (TAC) that will provide diverse representation from all segments of the San Francisco taxi industry to monitor the implementation of the Taxi Medallion Sales Pilot Program and advise the Board on long-term reform. The 15-member Advisory Council will be made up of:
The Taxi Advisory Council is an advisory body to the SFMTA, and shall “monitor the issues that arise during the Taxi Medallion Sales Pilot Program, evaluate the effects of the Pilot Program on all sectors of the taxi industry, and provide advice to the SFMTA Board of Directors and the Director of Transportation.” SF Transportation Code, Division II, Section 1109(e)(11). The Advisory Council is required to prepare a report containing its assessment of the Taxi Medallion Sales Pilot Program and its recommendations regarding a long-term Medallion reform program no later than December 31, 2010. The Advisory Council will be staffed by personnel from the Taxi Services section of the SFMTA.
