The Park Presidio Lombard Temporary HOV Lanes project team has received approval for a one-year extension from Caltrans. Caltrans has jurisdiction over Park Presidio Boulevard and the portion of Lombard Street that is part of U.S. 101. The pilot extension will now proceed under Caltrans’ approval. This extension allows the project team to continue coordinating with Caltrans to complete the necessary environmental studies.
We wanted to share this update with you, especially since we have previously communicated plans about this pilot.
We remain committed to seeking permanent approval through both Caltrans and the SFMTA Board. This would occur no earlier than 2026. Leading up to that milestone, we will conduct an extensive community outreach effort to ensure the public’s input is reflected in the decision-making process.
