The Bayview Shuttle has helped people get around their neighborhood and beyond since last year.
On November 12, the Bayview Shuttle will celebrate its first birthday, and we invite you to join us in marking the occasion!
This milestone would not have been possible without the collaboration of Bayview-Hunter's Point organizations and residents.
The Bayview Shuttle helps people in the neighborhood get around more easily by connecting with Muni and BART. It strengthens public transit in a community that was overlooked for many years. Over the past year, this on-demand, grant-funded service has experienced tremendous ridership growth. From December 2024 to October 2025, daily ridership for the Bayview Shuttle grew by 98% to an average of 132 rides per day.
Anniversary celebration
Celebrate with us! On Thursday, Nov. 13 at the Southeast Community Center, community partners, riders and residents will come together to celebrate the first year of the Bayview Shuttle.
The event will have food, performances and testimonials from folks both involved in the behind-the-scenes of the project and who benefit from the service.

One year of milestones
This past year was full of accomplishments for the Bayview Shuttle. In its first year of service, the Bayview Shuttle:
- Provided rides to more than 1,600 unique users
- Responded to bookings on average within 14 minutes of the request time
- Maintained an average 4.9/5.0 rider satisfaction rating across all months

These successes are evident from the awards the service has won! The Bayview Shuttle won the Opportunity and Empowerment Award from the Northern California Chapter of the American Planning Association. It also won the Transportation Planning Award from the American Planning Association California Chapter.
Both awards indicate how the shuttle improves the quality of life for Bayview residents and empowers them. This is shown in surveys where one out of three people use the shuttle every week and almost the same number indicate the shuttle highly improves their ability to access different places and activities.
In the past year, our community partners also:
- Participated in 55 outreach events to educate people about the service
- Engaged with thousands of residents to hear their thoughts and experiences with the shuttle
- Promoted 11 community events to let riders know what was happening in the community
- Helped hire 20 drivers and maintained 11 driver positions
This project remains rooted in the community. Many of the drivers have strong connections with the Bayview-Hunters point neighborhood, which is one of the positive elements of the service. As one rider said,
“Thank you to the Bayview Shuttle staff so friendly and outgoing. My car is having problems right now. It's been really great and easy to ride in comfort and style. I’m in the neighborhood and close to my job so it's AWESOME to ride the shuttle. Keep up the great work. 5⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️.”
In addition, the performance and design of the service is overseen by the Community Congress. This group of 15 residents makes all significant service decisions. Members meet on a quarterly basis to share what they hear about the service, review performance metrics and vote on any decisions.
At our most recent Community Congress meeting in October, we invited two of the top riders to share their experience. One of the riders, Pedro, has ridden the shuttle more than 500 times, said:
“I have other siblings, and I basically take care of them ... it’s super helpful getting that [the Bayview Shuttle], connecting to something else, and then just getting there really fast. There was a time where I was in the hospital, and it was my only way to get around and it was super helpful.”
We hope the Bayview Shuttle can continue to make a substantial difference in the daily lives of others, as it has for Pedro.
